In-Office Procedures

We offer state-of-the-art diagnostic procedures to aid in the accurate diagnosis and management of neurological conditions:

Electroencephalogram (EEG):

  • An EEG is a non-invasive test that measures electrical activity in the brain. Small electrodes are placed on the scalp to detect brain waves, which are then recorded and analyzed. This procedure is crucial for diagnosing conditions such as epilepsy, sleep disorders, and brain function abnormalities. The test is painless and typically lasts between 20 to 40 minutes, though longer monitoring may be required for certain conditions.

Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS):

  • EMG and NCS are used to assess the health of muscles and the nerve cells that control them. During an EMG, small needles are inserted into the muscles to record electrical activity, helping to detect nerve or muscle dysfunction. NCS involves stimulating nerves with small electrical impulses and recording the responses, which can reveal nerve damage or dysfunction. These tests are essential for diagnosing conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, and other neuromuscular disorders.

At Central Valley Neurology, we are dedicated to providing patient-centered care, utilizing the latest advancements in neurology to deliver accurate diagnoses and effective treatments. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for our patients through comprehensive and compassionate care.
